Leading workforce management solution provider, Volt Consulting – Managed Service Programs, announced today that it has partnered with Infotree, producers of the TalentNet Independent Contractor Verification process. As organizations maintaining a contingent workforce continue to increase their use of independent contractors, the IRS has increased the number of audits to uncover potential worker misclassification improprieties. The high cost of penalties sustained by organizations who improperly classify contingent workers as Independent Contractors (IC) has presented a challenge to organizations that maintain a significant contingent workforce. To assist its clients in monitoring their IC workforce for potential worker misclassification, Volt Consulting MSP has elected to deploy TalentNet, an IC classification software and service produced by Infotree. Infotree, a diversity-owned business enterprise will be offering the TalentNet solution in support of Volt Consulting’s new and existing human capital managed service programs.
Volt Consulting MSP President, Larry Kaylor explained, “The TalentNet program strictly adheres to IRS regulations and utilizes the same independent contractor litmus test used by IRS auditors to determine IC status”. Kaylor further reflects, “Volt Consulting MSP understands Infotree to have considerable expertise in this area which is why it elected to enter into an agreement with them to provide this critical service offering to our Global 1000 clients.”
The Volt Consulting/Infotree TalentNet Program employs a methodological 7-step approach to determine if an assignment is, or should be, classified as an IC. The 7-step process was developed by Infotree’s legal team, which is comprised of former IRS agents and an former Justice Department prosecutor.
